I always thought that Texas was part of the South. And in a way, it is. I mean, it was part of the Confederacy and it is in fact pretty south. But I have only recently begun to see that being Texan is different from being Southern.
A friend of mine is getting married in a few months. She's from Texas like me, but she's marrying into a southern family. Wanna know how I know?
I got an invitation in the mail today for the shower she's going to have in Alabama. There are 17 hostesses. 17. Seventeen. Okay, so seventeen hostesses for a one-hour miscellaneous tea. What even is that? A one-hour shower? That's called a miscellaneous tea?
My husband and I did some research on the internet. What I think it means is that there will be various types of teas and different tea sets, etc. And I fear that there will be trays and trays of cucumber sandwiches, which my friend has already said will cause her to throw up on her shoes.
So much for wearing jeans and flip flops to your own wedding shower, my friend. Although, wow. That sounds really... Texan.
All I know is I would make sure to BYOB. It sounds like just the kind of occasion I would dread w/o a bloody mary (or two)
ReplyDeleteI bought a plane ticket yesterday to go down for the shower. Which means that in approximately 10 days, I'll have some great blog material!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that my tea party is a source of material for you!
ReplyDeleteYesterday, a coworker asked me if I was going to drink my tea with my pinkie finger up! I wanted to slug him . . .
