A few months ago, I decided I was going to start a Wife Blog. Basically, I had been reading too many Mommy Blogs and I was feeling discontent about just being a wife, so I decided to start a wife blog, a blog about marriage and wifehood.
Turns out, I don't know enough about marriage to maintain a frequently updated blog about it. (Actually, I don't think I know enough about anything to maintain that sort of topical blog.)
But before I had figured that out, I had delusions of grandeur and imagined that there were thousands of other women out there like me, who wanted to read about marriage and what was good about it and what was sometimes frustrating about it and how it was all worth it. And I decided that perhaps I could make a little pocket change off the blog by adding Google AdSense to it. So I did.
Are you familiar with Google AdSense? Basically, when you apply, they have someone review your blog to make sure you meet particular standards of quality, like you don't cuss too much and your blog isn't about how to make bombs. Once you are approved, they have spiders or bots crawl your site looking for keywords and then their computers post ads on your blog related to the content on your blog. Brilliant, right?
And since I written about marriage and being a wife, Google's little spiders picked up on those words and post related ads:
Cheat on Your Wife - Search Married Personals for Women Looking to Cheat Also. Join Free!
Get Your Husband Back - Get Your Husband Back In 2 Days. Secrets his New Lover Will Hate
Women: Fix Your Husband - Learn 7 ways marriage counselors Could break-up your relationship.
10 Signs of Cheating - Is Your Partner Showing any of the 10 Signs of Cheating? Free Quiz
Let's just say Google AdSense didn't stay for long. Who writes these ads anyway? Who wants a "Cheat on Your Wife" ad posted on their blog? Somehow the system is flawed, but since I can't figure out how to fix the system, I'll just have to adjust.
So on this blog, the current one, the one you are reading, I have talked about other things! Just now, I looked at the ads that were posted.
I think the system is working as designed when you want to click on the ads on your own blog to find out what they have to say about "Dental Anxiety Treatment" and "Dining Room Chairs" and "Safe Conscious Sedation."
